# DayOfTheDeadAI > DayOfTheDeadAI is a Day of the Dead AI video generator. One clear photo becomes a 10-second vertical 9:16 MP4 for Día de Muertos: a pet walks home along a marigold-petal path, a cat or dog gets Catrina sugar-skull face paint and a marigold crown, or an adult is transformed into Catrina formal attire with painted sugar-skull makeup in front of a candle-lit ofrenda. DayOfTheDeadAI is an independent third-party tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to TikTok, CapCut, or any film or animation studio. Generated videos are AI-made memorial or festive clips from a user photo — they are not real footage and they make no claim about the afterlife. For Día de Muertos (November 1–2), pet owners on TikTok and Reels post short AI videos of a late cat or dog walking home along a path of orange marigold petals — the flowers that, in Mexican tradition, guide spirits back to the family ofrenda. Many families mark October 27 as the day to remember pets that have passed. This site turns one photo into that 10-second clip. ### Is Día de Muertos just "Mexican Halloween"? No. Día de Muertos is a Mexican tradition for remembering and honouring people and pets who have died — families build ofrendas with marigolds (cempasúchil), candles, photos and papel picado. UNESCO added it to the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2008. It is related in calendar position to Halloween, not in meaning. ### Can I make a video for a pet that has passed away? Yes — that is exactly what the Marigold Path mode is for. Upload a clear photo of your cat or dog and the model puts them on the marigold-petal path toward home. The video is an AI-made memorial clip from your photo, not real footage, and it makes no claim about the afterlife. ### What is the difference between the memorial and the Catrina versions? Marigold Path is a quiet memorial: your pet simply walks home through petals and lantern light. Catrina Pet and Catrina Makeup are festive dress-up: sugar-skull face paint, a crown of orange marigolds and red roses, embroidered collar or formal suit and top hat — the look you see in Catrina parades across Mexico. ### What photo works best? For pets: a clear shot of one cat or dog, face and coat markings visible, full body or half body. For the Catrina Makeup mode: a front-facing, waist-up photo of one adult with even lighting, no sunglasses or mask. All photos need at least 90,000 pixels. ### Can I use a photo of my cat? Yes — both pet modes accept cats and dogs. Upload a photo where your cat's face and markings are clearly visible. ### Does the video have sound? No — the export is silent so you can add your own sound and caption when posting on TikTok or Reels. Captions often used with this trend include "Este es su primer Día de Muertos" ("This is their first Day of the Dead"), "Ya vienen en camino" ("They're on their way") and "Te espero en casa" ("I'll wait for you at home"). ### Is there a free trial? No. Sign-in and a credit pack are required. The $5 pack adds 500 credits — enough for one 10-second clip at 480p (340 credits) with credits left over. A 720p clip uses 760 credits; the $10 pack covers one. ### When should I post it? Many families mark October 27 for pets that have passed; the main Día de Muertos dates are November 1 (for children) and November 2 (for adults). Posting the clip any time between October 27 and November 2 fits the tradition. ### Can I use a photo of a celebrity or a child? No. Use only yourself, a consenting adult, or your own pet. Photos of minors and public figures are not allowed. ### What happens if generation fails? When a task is confirmed as failed, its charged credits are returned automatically after refund processing. Refresh your balance; contact support if credits remain missing. Languages: English has no URL prefix. Other locales use `/zh`, `/ru`, `/de`, `/fr`, `/ja`, `/ko`, `/es`, `/pt`, `/tr`.
